Markets fall

China’s main equity indexes fell yesterday. The Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.87 percent to 2,954.18 points while the Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.57 percent to 9,746.03. The ChiNext board dropped 1.05 percent. Turnover on the two major bourses totaled 538.9 billion yuan (US$77 billion), up from 520.3 billion yuan in the previous trading session. Shares in the sectors of semiconductors and 5G led the losses. But blockchain, pork and animal vaccine stocks saw robust growth.
